Workshop Season has started!
What to Expect from Our Workshops and Why We Do Them
Embracing Connection, Nature, and Well-being
Workshop season is officially underway at The Heard Therapy! We recently hosted our first event, Emotional Well-being Aromatherapy with Horses, alongside practitioner Tracy Frost. It was a deeply enriching experience, reinforcing why we bring well-being practices, complementary therapies, and equine connection together.
The workshops that we create at The Heard Therapy are designed to combine well-being practices and complementary therapies with nature and equine connection. We feel that by bringing complementary therapies and well-being practices into nature, supported by the connection of the horses, we are providing an opportunity for deepening the experience of developing self-awareness through connection.
Life can get very, very busy. It can get quite overwhelming. And I feel that many of us tend to live in override, which can mean that we're overriding feelings of stress. We are constantly trying to do and to keep busy in order to survive due to the current economic climate, fear of war, and oppression.
Quite often, I hear people commenting about the pace of life speeding up. I believe that this has some connection to our collective nervous system being in a higher activation due to elevated stress on a collective level.
I feel that sharing our space of calm, presence, and connection with small groups provides a bubble-like experience of peace and tranquility, rejuvenation, and restoration. It's our aim to provide a safe space for both horses and humans, within which they can be more fully their authentic self. The well-being activities combined with nature and equine-assisted therapy provide a number of routes or journeys to that experience, to that part of ourselves that we all have inside: the light within that all too often is obscured by stress, by the mind, and by doing.
The Essence of Being
At The Heard Therapy, we are passionate about creating a space of being:
Being who we are.
Being in connection.
Being with others.
Being in nature.
Being with horses.
Being with ourselves, with our true authentic self.
Being with the essence of what it means to be human.
To share that experience with others and to sense the non-duality of the beingness that connects all of us when we share that space: with nature, with horses, and with ourselves.
Horses and Their Role in Our Workshops
Horses instinctively know how to be, and they know how to communicate as horses. They live moment by moment, experiencing the world through their senses and their connection to their environment.
They also experience the world through their felt sense, their energy, their presence:
Feeling the presence of the other.
Feeling the energy of the other.
Feeling the vibrational quality of the other.
And when we, as humans, can be in the right conditions of safety, relaxation, and connection, we can attune to this same frequency. We can align with this vibrational energy that runs throughout everything in nature and in ourselves.
Why We Keep Our Groups Small
Our groups are kept small, with a maximum of six or eight participants.
We do this because:
We believe in the quality of the experience and that we can provide a more personal service to a much smaller group.
A smaller group helps to give more of a sense of holding and support.
Smaller groups are easier for our horses to manage.
When we carry out workshops and activities at The Heard Therapy, we are within the horse's home environment. We need to be considerate about how they might be experiencing the energies of the people who come to us and the activities that we do.
Keeping groups small means:
It’s more manageable for the horses to find a space away from the energies if they need to.
It’s easier for them and potentially less overwhelming to experience us if we are in a smaller group.
It supports our neurodivergent community and trauma survivors, helping them feel safer and more supported.
